Hidden Talents International English Competition
Many children at St Joseph's took part in English competition. There were two groups depending on the kids age, and they had different tasks during the contest. It was held in the school library.
11-12-year-old contestants prepared an introductory essay about themselves. They introduced their family, school, friends and their free time activities. Then they drew 10 cards with one personal question on each that had to be answered. The questions were like these: What do you like doing with your best friend? How often do you meet your friend? What is your favourite sports? etc. They also made a picture description. In the pictures they could see children enjoying some free time activities together with their friends. All the children were very excited even if they had spent a lot of time with preparing for the contest. Finally they were really happy because they did good job,
13-14-year olds had to introduce a topic ( Free time, School, Holiday etc.) then they discussed different topics with their teacher. (The topics were for example: shopping, eating at a restaurant, asking for information, inviting people, introduction or giving direction) They also did a picture description. Some children did amazing job while a few of them had not worked as hard as they should have.
